Once again AMC has given the ax to The Killing. Last year, the cable net cancelled the show after two seasons, only to reverse the decision as Fox TV Studios, producer of the drama, fought to keep the show afloat. Few cancellations ever result in anything akin to a happy ending, so the third season for The Killing is not to be scoffed at. AMC gave the show the chance, partnering with Netflix to get the episodes available via streaming shortly after air for the third run. The Killing s third season opened hopefully, with a respectable 1.8 million viewers, and largely positive reviews from fans and critics. However, the numbers have drifted, with the season finale only slightly up from the second season closer, leaving Season 3 essentially flat. In a statement to Deadline AMC mentioned that the decision was difficult, and thanked the show s producers, creator, cast and fans.
